Apologies to all those who have inquired about my father’s health and well being.
Last year, Jamaal Cottrell-El (NINEOBEY) was preparing for a surgery on his leg/hip which was superseded by an emergency surgery on his spine. That surgery went well but during rehabilitation he fell very ill. Due to complications after surgery, his health rapidly declined. He was doing well until he developed pneumonia and a serious infection. These conditions lead to becoming dependent on a ventilator to breathe amongst other things. He still expected to recover fully and be back to himself.
In the interim, Dad, was unable to verbally communicate by phone. He was very frustrated because he couldn’t use his full voice. Eventually, I was put under a gag order which left me able to only release limited information if at any at all. He would listen to his voicemails and read his emails but I was not allowed to reply most times as as he had full intentions of once again being on to speak on his own. Therefore, I had to be brief, elusive and not disclose much information. Eventually, in an attempt to keep up with his ailing health and focus on trying to get him recovered. I too became missing in action. My father was then fighting for his life battling infections and pneumonia.
Regrettably, these ailments, medications and long term illness became critical and began to take a toll on his body. Things turned grave. It pains me to say that my father, Jamaal transitioned on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
A memorial celebration will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at James H. Cole Funeral Home, 2624 W Grand Blvd Detroit, MI 48208 (313) 873-0771 at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
Peace and Love.
His daughters.
